Mistakes, Oversights, Problems

One of the main purposes of the 9/11 Commission was to identify and correct mistakes that were occuring at all levels of the United States government and in private companies such as the airlines that allowed the hijackers to carry out thier attacks.

Think about what you have read and come up with a "Top 3 List" of the worst mistakes, oversights, and/or problems that made you think "that should have been fixed," or ""that should have never happened," or even "WHAT WERE WE THINKING?!?!?".

Post a single comment with your "Top 3" list in order from least important (3) to most important (1).

When you comment, you must choose the Name/URL option and type your FULL NAME into the prompt. Posts without full names and any anonymous posts will not be accepted. You do not need to enter anything into the URL line.

  1. there were alot of mistakes that happened on september 11, 2001. i think these are three of the biggest

1- the terrorists were not checked efficiently at the airports they boarded the planes at.

2- many government officials held back useful information on that day.

3- the choice not to evacuate the south tower after the north tower was hit.

    2. There were many communication problems between different government agencies.

    1. Nothing was done in the past to stop Bin Laden when we knew about the attacks when Bin Laden wrote in a news paper

There were tons of mistakes that occured

1)It took long for Information to be passed to the President.

2)Airport security did not check efficiently enough and they let the terrorists pass right through.

3)The FAA who was supposed to be in control of everything in the air was not notified of the hijackings until more than an hour in flight.
