A New Strategy
This week President Obama announced his new strategy for fighting the war in Afghanistan. Since then there has been no shortage of political commentary on the subject. I have chosen three articles, all with very different points of view for you to read.
The first article by Bob Herbert (A Tragic Mistake) argues that President Obama's plan is a mistake. The next article by Charles Krauthammer(Uncertain Trumpet) is also critical of the President's plan, but for a completely different reason. The last article (Surge, Then Leave) by David Ignatius is in favor of the President's strategy.

Look at all three articles and answer the questions on your current events worksheet, then post your own opinion of the President's plan in the comments section.
I think that what obama is doing right now is a very smart decision. the more people we get into the war the quicker were going to get out. And we will also have fewer deaths. we need to outnumber and just completely stomp them.
ReplyDeletei think the war in iraq needs to end cause its not worth the lives and it feels like were getting no where but i think obamas plan its pretty good so i guess we ll see how it works out.
ReplyDeletei belive that the best option would be to compleatly pull out of the war...this war is costing us more and more lives and money that we do not have. our growing natiponal debt is being fed by this horible war!
ReplyDeleteI think it is personally both good and bad. We have been over there for a while, lives have been lost and money has been spent. In this war not as many lives were lost as in other wars so i guess its an alright plan to send in troops and try it out to see the outcome and hopefully it helps us. But also our country is in so much debt from this war its unreal. So im not really sure what the right decision is, but i guess we will see.
