In recent years digital media such as multi-player online games and social media networks have exploded in popularity.
Supporters argue that these technologies allow people to become more social and expand their network of friends and acquaintances. Opponents argue that they often lead to abuse, internet addiction, and/or harassment and cyber-bullying.
In today’s world of technological immersion, in what ways is technology helping us to develop more meaningful personal relationships? In what way is it hurting our "real-world" relationships with others?

I think gaming really helped the world because us americans embrace eachother on xbox live and it helps me concentrate when i play educational type games. i think games will make us smart.
ReplyDeleteIt is hurting our real world relationships because evryone is fighting over the video games with each other. Instead of becoming friends they are becoming enemies. I do not agree with this but i also do get mad at video games and call people names. I do think that there is alot of bullying going on on the computer
ReplyDeletetechnology gives us the ability to "meet" new people without ever seeing them. Sites like facebook allow you to have thousands of friends who you probably never talk to.
ReplyDeleteRecent technology i think helps us meet new people online and you may never see them. Also, if you have friends in a different state the internet, video games, and webcams help us keep us in touch. On the other hand, teens today are becoming addicted to video games. Everyday in school i hear people talking about if they are gonna be on xbox to play or not. I honestly think that some of these kids have more hours playing xbox that going outside to do something.
ReplyDeleteTechnology gives us the ability to communicate and form relationships with new people without actually ever meeting themin person. Social networking sites allow you to talk to thousands of people including people you don't know, therefore it is easy to meet new people.
ReplyDeleteIt helps you to interact with other people even though you dont know them personally it is a way for you to talk to them. It takes time away from "real-world" relationships but its your decision how much time you take out of your day to do these things. So whether it has a dramatic effect on your relationships or not is up to you.
ReplyDeletetechnology is a used world wide... and poelpe do meet new people and they start to get addicted to online and get it nore then 10 thimes a day. If a person is addicted to a game they will keep playing and playing that game because they dont want ot stop or because they meet someone they like.
ReplyDeleteI think technology dont really have that big of help in the world it does in certain ways but in more ways it hurts us it seems like. To me it seems like all i ever get done is hearing about how this person said that someone else said this and its always over the computer and even sometimes I have been ditched for video games. and thts annoying.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with breanna's thought on it but I also disagree tht technology helps us in a lot of ways
ReplyDeleteUsing technology for online interaction is good as well as bad. Sure you can meet new people and let relationships blossum but there are also internet preditors that you need to keep and eye out for. Also people feel to comfortable online, sometimes saying things they shouldnt have. All in all technologys pros outweigh the cons.
ReplyDeletei have a blog post reponse to christian getz's post. christain, you are a lazy bum who sits around and plays xbox all day long, of course you will agree with this. but the truth is bad video games are a bad influence on kids. a kid once killed his sister by way of a baseball bat to the head from playing grand theft auto. like i said before, dont turn your back on the wolfpack.
ReplyDeleteChristian Getz, you are a nerd and play too many video games. Never, never have you played an educational game and enjoyed it aswell as stayed on task. TISK TISK TISK
ReplyDeleteWell i heard what jd and ronnie said. they are two cruel men and i dislike them very much. the incident of the kid killing his sister and the boy shooting a cop cause of grand theft auto is the parents fault for letting them play... if you read the back it says everything its not ment for young kids or the unstable in the mind. NO matter what they will still keep making games like that and ill buy every one of them. this wont make me stop or the gaming nation jd i turned back on the wolfpack except for my real friends. Odoyle rules jd drolls.
ReplyDeleteTechnology could go either way its good and bad. it creates relationships but it can also consume peoples life and destroy relationships. its a good sourse for facts and information too tho.
