This week an area soldier from Altoona who was killed in the line of duty was laid to rest. Read the article and/or watch this video and comment on what was done to honor this local hero.
in a worls that has kept a constant string of war raging on, it is a wonderful thing that we take a miniute to reflect on what we nhave lost...but maybe what we have lost and are still loosing is too great to rick for such a sencelese cause, violance
I think that it is a good thing that so many people have come forth and showed there sympathy by sending cards and showing up to the services. It is a sad thing that happened, and im sure he will surely be missed, but people think of him as a hero and praise him for putting his life out there to protect his fellow soldiers. You can tell his father is definietly proud and misses him same as his wife. He will be remembered as a hero and will be missed.
It is a notion that runs counter to our modern sense of personal happiness, but it is 1 that befits the deeds of Marine Staff Sgt. Matt Ingham, who on Jan.11 in Afghanistan, crawled while wounded into an exposed position after an ambush to call for the air support that saved 12 comrades, even as it resulted in his own death. he was nice enough to use his body to protect and save the us from them.
I think this story is sad and inspiaring. I think it is sad becasue he has died serving our conutry. Inspiaring because of how much they did for that one soldier. It is sad though because he was so close to where we live.
i thinks its really sad that a man from altoona dies in the war. though i think its great that he was trying to help our country by being a solider. the parade for the memory of this brave man was also very nice. i didnt attend but my uncle did. he didnt know the man personally, though he did know a few family members, so he went to altoona that day to support.
I think they did a lot for this local solider and thats good. I think it's awesome all the stuff they did for our local hero and he deffinitally deserved it.
There were many sites set up to let people comment on the soldier. There was an army funeral service held and there was a viewing before he was buried. I am very sad that someone from around here died but I am glad that they got a good burial
