McGwire Admits to Steroid Use

This week Mark McGwire was the latest former major league star to admit to using steroids during his time in the Majors.

Read this article, in which former major leaguer Doug Glanville tells what it was like to play against Mark McGwire, and what he thinks about his admission of steroid use.

Does this admission change your opinion of McGwire?  Have all the admissions of steroid use in baseball changed your opinion of the sport?  Does McGwire (or any other admitted steroid user) deserve a place in the baseball Hall of Fame or should they be banned?  Share your opinion in the comment section.

  1. My opinion of Mark McGuire has changed greatly since his admission of steroid use. He was one of my favorite baseball players when i was young and finding out that he was using steroids was a shocking experience. I don't think that McGuire deserves a place in the hall of fame if the only way he could get there was to use performance enhancing drugs. This has changed my opinion about baseball because now if a really good player comes up then you will always be wondering whether or not they are using steroids.

  2. My opinion on Mark McGuire has definately changed. Mark McGuire used to be my favorite baseball player as a child, but finding out he did steroids is a large shock and I no longer respect him. He was high on the list of home run hitters and I used to think they were natural. All his homeruns were assisted by steroids. He does not deserve a place in the baseball hall of fame because he needed steroids for assistence. Any players that use them do not deserve to be in the hall of fame if they used steroids for assistence.

  3. i think that steriod users shouldnt be admitted into the MLB hall of fame. that honor should go to the players that did it the right way without use of illegal and or banned substances. look at the greats like babe ruth, willy mays, ted williams, hammerin hank aaron and roberto clemente. all of those guys did it the right way, they loved the game and played it right and still set records. now a days players like bonds, mcgwire, and sosa are setting all these home run records and people forget that they cheated and used illegal performance enhancing drugs to do that. plus the fences are alot smaller too, yankee stadium used to be 500 ft to centerfield, now it is 425 ft.

these players should not be rewarded with the hall of fame honors if they cheated with performance enhancing drugs.

  4. I dont really follow baseball so this doesnt really change my opinion to much. Like in the article i can see why he used them, but then again is it really necassary to be like a fake? It is his career and he needs to do good in order to keep his job but then hes not showing his true ability for everyone to see. I dont really know if he should get the spot in Hall of Fame because it wasnt his own ability that he was using he pretty much "got help." But i do play softball and i could see the stresses of having to be good and everything, but i dont think i would go to the extent of steroids?

  7. his brother was and is a supporter of the unreal- a huge fan of science fictions. thanks to him, when i was growing up i would catch an occasional episode of the tv show where godzilla would take on the Rodan, and they would end up in these knock-down, drag-out fights, reaping collateral damage all along the way. and when may 1998 release date of the remakes of godzilla approached, even though with the baseball season in high gear i anticipated seeing it in a philadelphia theater as soon as he could find some down time in between the games.

  8. i think it is rediculous that such a talented pro athlete has to use drugs. i think since he is getting old he wanted to still be a great prlayer. though i dont understand why he wouldnt want ti leave the MLB on a respectful note? i think that he ruined his name.
