Do you think the punishment fit the crime? Is this a criminal act or just kids being kids? Why do you think the school found it necessary to arrest the children involved? What message does it send to the rest of the school and the community? Is that a type of community and school you think would make model citizens? Why or why not?

I do think that the punishment fit the crime because they were old enough to know better. Also They cause alot of dammage.
ReplyDeleteThey would not make very modeled citizens at all because they are crazy
No i think it is very stupid because they were put in jail. They do not have the right to be put in jail. They are to young. I can imagine a fine of some sort but not being put in jail thet is just phinominal. They were just trying to have fun. Like they thought they were gonna be put in jail.
ReplyDeletei think thatits rediculous.no 15 yearold should go to jail for having a food fight. there is food fights in schools every day. if they sent people to jail for stupid stuff like a food fight everyone would be in jail! i dont understand why they pick the punishment they did. but i think its unnessecary.
ReplyDeletei think its just kids being kids they should not of got arrested for just something small like a food fight and no that is not the kind of school or the way the school should of taken care of that situation and the punshment was too crewl for the kids those kids are going to remember that for the rest of their lives. The other kids at that school should know that the school is just crewl to its students....
ReplyDeleteI do not think that the punishment fit the crime. First of all they kids are way to young to go to jail, the youngest ones were only in 8th grade. Second of all, all they did was have a food fight, it's not like they robbed a bank or anything. I think that their school is just trying to scare the kids into behaving. I don't think that that kid of school would make model citizens because everyone that comes out of that school is going to be scared to do anything because they'll think that they will get punished
ReplyDeleteNo i do not think the punishment fit the crime. This act is kids just being kids just like Ms. russell said "who doesnt have a food fihgt?" I thnk the school did this becaus ethey did't know how to take care of the problem themselves. They might of thought tha their punishment they had for them wasn't good enough for al the damnge they did. The message that is sent to the rest of the school and community is to just take care of your own problems f you can. for the schools it is take control over your students dont let them control you. No its not a type of a community that i would make model citizens. Because kids are kids they just want to have some fun.
ReplyDeleteThis type of action for a food fight is ridiculous! I mean sending 25 middle school kids to jail because of a food fight! This action to me is outrageous. All because of a food fight these kids will have misdemeanors put on their records because of a little food fight. I remember stories of my father and grandfather being punished for fighting in school, but they were never sent to jail because of it. I believe schools are being too hard on these kids these days. Getting arrested for a food fight is outrageuos, these kids should only be suspended or be given saturday detenions not spend 8 hours in jail!
ReplyDeleteI think that the punishment that the school district gave to the students was very unnecissary and that they went beyond what they should have rightly done. The food fight was far from a criminal action and should not be treated as such.It was simply kids being kids and I think that they deserve a break. The point of having a childhood is so that you can learn from your mistakes and that you can get all of those things out of your system before you grow up and move into the workplace. The school went much too far by arresting the children and in my opinion it was a dumb decision on their part. This sends a message to the school saying "hey, open your eyes and start paying attention to what is going on, these actions are not that bad and they are only children, they deserve a second chance. You need to take it easy on them." The message sent to the community is simply that the school is taking uncalled for action." I personally believe that anyone can be a model citizen if he/she is willing to do so, they must just put forward work and effort.
ReplyDeleteokay, we all know that yes this was the wrong thing to do, but jail is just a bit extream. i mean the school does want to enforce that this will not be tollerated but really.
ReplyDeletei dont think it was right for the school to take them out of school and arrest them because that is dumb just for starting a food fight. why wouldnt they just be suspended for a day or two? why did they have to take is so far for? school these days are redickuless. school is so over welmed now. why cant it be like the old days just get away from everything? stupid schools.
ReplyDeletethe punishment the kids got for there crime is bull. These are just kids being kids nothing else. the school probably found it necessary to do that because they werent listening i dont know. they must be taking advice from our school, are school blocks music sites and games so they can make school as boring as possible. It sends a message that says were kids just living are life. i would love to have a big food fight. so these kids are good model citizens because there telling kids to go have fun.
ReplyDeleteI think the punishment was way to drastic for the crime. There kids what was the school thinking? Im not even sure why they would think the kids deserved to be arrested. It really sends a message that they aint putting up with any crap but personally i still think they went way overboard. I think that it is just gonna scare them so they wont get into trouble but thats no good cause they still are not learning anything from it.
