This article examines the idea that you can seperate a man from his ideas. Can there be a philosopher who is also a Nazi? Remember, one of this countries founding fathers was a slave holder. (Jefferson) Do you think it is possible to separate a mans thoughts from his actions? Should a persons political views be the only factor that you look at when you judge a person?

yess there already is martin heidegger he is a nazi philosapher, archetecture , and psycology. You cant change a persons thoughts but, just having thoughts is different than accually doing it.Yes peoples actions show everything about them. like personality and character.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that a man who still believes that other races are less than his can be considered a philosopher. even though Jefferson was a slave owner, he didn't treat his slaves badly, in fact he wanted to include that the slaves should be free in the Declaration of Independence. heidegger on the other hand, believes that other races are not equal to him. So how can someone be a philosopher who has such a terrible philosophy? I think that whenveryou judge a person you need to take all the factors into account, not just their political views. By doing thisyou can make a more fair judgment of them
